My interest in food seems to have returned finally after a surprisingly long hiatus with only a few glimmers of real curiosity or excitement in between.
I had a very good lunch last Thursday at a very French bistro. This meal involved a brie and radicchio tartine with a very big glass of dry rosé that necessitated a nap after I walked back up the hill to my home.
Last night, I made myself a plate of Camembert with green peppercorns, smoked salmon, avocado, and crackers, accompanied by green grapes and a glass of not-too-soft Chardonnay. Mmmmm ...
Great change does not preclude bad nightmares.
Major triumph does not alleviate all anxieties.
Good friendships make everything better.
This day has been a long time coming. It has taken years of patient and difficult effort. It has taken the love and support of many wonderful people. On this day, I have finally shouted to the top of the ugly and cruel mess I was handed as my youth. It is a day of glorious liberation.
Things have been busy of late with moving, visits from out-of-towners, and various events. I've been spending some lovely afternoons eating delicious food and having heartfelt chats with Festa, a sweet dear man and one of my oldest friends. Little Miss Sunshine has also graced the PNW with her presence, and we've had some playful good times amidst the more serious psyche-examining conversations.
The Chatty Mongoose got her ass married this last weekend, and there was much celebration involved with that. The ceremony was earthy and humorous, the reception warm and playful. Everything I would expect from CM. I spent some good time with my Most Fashionable Friend that day. She travels so much during the summers that I don't see her as often as I would like, so having her at the wedding was a real treat. We sat together during the ceremony (the only women wearing hats), so I had to explain that I always cry at weddings. When she asked why, I could only respond with the simple truth: "I am a romantic sap."
It's true. I love love. I love romance. I always ask couples how they met. I always cry at weddings. If you read earworm, you know I also like romantic songs. I love doing romantic things with and for the individual I am enamored of. I love staring at my inamorata and learning her outline. I am delighted by her quirks. I could go on, but I'd be gushing.
Simply put, I am a passionate person. Happily, my ardor also happens to have great stamina. I am an adept sprinter as well as a strong distance runner both on the ground and in the clouds.
