NC: "Oh my god, you never blog anymore. What is up?"
NC: "I know, I suck. I'm just really busy."
NC: "Excuse me, slackass. Too busy doing what? Filing your nails?"
NC: "Well, I do some nail-filing, sure, but you know, I have a j-o-b now."
NC: "You say that like you think it grants some kind of privilege ... like the privilege to take a couple weeks off writing your blog. And don't try to tell me you're working 40 hours."
NC: "I don't think I like your tone."
NC: "Evasion! Listen fucker, you can't fool me. I know you."
NC: "A fine point, and well made."
NC: "So, what's up? Why aren't you writing your blog?"
NC: "I really have been busy. I work all day, I come home and have things to do, or I go out with friends or Nellicious, and I really just don't have time to blog."
NC: "Don't have time or don't make time?"
NC: "Oh please. <rolling eyes and muttering under breath>Don't make time.</reamub> Okay, you know I'm on the computer a lot of the day, and I really don't want to be on it again at night. My eyesight is shit as it is and --"
NC: "Dude, I know what you've been doing."
NC: "Would you please stop?"
NC: "Boom chicka bow-bow."
NC: "Um, we're in public. Plus, you know very well that I have many interests and numerous activities that keep me busy."
NC: "Mmm-hmmm."
NC: "Stop! You're so single-minded. And, you know very well I really am busy with work and poetry and dinners and volunteering and socializing and helping friends with various projects ... look, I really want to write my blog, but --"
NC: "But you're too 'busy.'"
NC: "Okay, fuck you. I am busy. Plus, I've been writing work stuff and poetry and longish emails, and I just don't have much else to say right now."
NC: "You're telling me."
1) I saw a woman in a strangely-not-ironic-but-actually-trying-to-be-stylish mullet at the bus stop. She was also wearing a totally 80s bright yellow wool coat. I felt I was having an acid flashback.
2) I am reading functional specifications and reading about how to write them. It is quite surprisingly interesting. I am very interested in design, and this is basically just a way to write about design.
3) There are flow charts involved. I heart flowcharts. Little known secret: I actually used flowcharts while writing my dissertation. And the one assignment I really liked in library school was making the mapping diagrams for relational databases. I have now exposed my utter dorkitude.
4) RB is here from the Land of Corn, and we are going to look at lovely plants and eat good food tonight. This makes me very happy.
5) My new favorite thing to do is order food when I am downtown waiting for the bus so that when I arrive in my neighborhood twenty minutes later, there is hot food ready for my grumbling stomach.
6) Speaking of phones: I forgot my phone at Nellicious' house this morning. It is kind of a pain not to have a phone. For example, you cannot call your friend to coordinate how to get your phone back. And, anyone you are in regular contact with and who might expect you to be available via phone you have to email and tell them what a loser you are for forgetting your phone. Also, if your dear sweet friend is kind enough to bring your phone by your house, she can't actually ring you once she's there because, well, the front door rings your phone. However, she can ring the phone (which she is currently holding) and let herself in, a nice little trick I have used myself. And, anyhow, I didn't realize how very attached I am to my phone and how I now use it for other non-phone things, like checking the time, leaving myself funny voice memos, and waking myself from naps.
